Open Choir returns on Wednesdays, October 5th, 12th & 19th from 7-9pm – FREE  with the NYC Seed Group and the Open Program of the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards.  The Open Choir returns for just a few evenings this October, thanks to a visit by the Italy-based Open Program, a world-renowned performing group. All are welcome at this unique, inclusive event, and all are invited to participate in the dynamic singing and dancing or to simply sit and take it all in. Come join us! Journey to Mutum on Friday, October 14th @ 7:30pm  We would like to invite everyone to come and experience the force and beauty of the forest with the Yawanawá Tribe of Western Brazil. Eight members of the Yawanawá tribe from Acre, Amazonia Brazil, will be coming to New York, sharing their ancestral songs,
traditional games and rich culture, educating people to their way of life in order to help preserve their language and spiritual heritage from extinction.

and wisdom of their ancestral teachings, passed down orally for countless

Open House New York on Saturday, 10/15 from 10am-6pm and Sunday, 10/16 from 2-6pm Open House New York (OHNY) is an annual event where important buildings around the city that aren’t commonly accessible are opened to the public for tours and other events over a weekend in October. Voice of the Earth & Tree Spirit on Thursday 10/20 @ 7pm & Friday 10/21 @ 8pm  Voice of the Earth features the enormous ancestral Taiko drums, colorful dances and soulful melodies of the Shakuhachi flute. Guest artist from Japan, Jishoya Ichiro Ensemble, will bring their artistry from across the oceans to this wonderful program. Taikoza’s shows are immensely popular with all ages and promises to be a fun filled evening. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Creative Engagement administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and by East Winds, Inc.  Tickets: $35 Adults- $25 Students, child; Purchase at Taikoza.com or Call: 866-811-4111

Composers Concordance’s ALL ABOUT SPAIN on Saturday10/22 @ 8pm  The All About Spainconcert features new flamenco-inspired music and dance. CompCord String Orchestra will perform with guests, including dancer Sonia Olla and singer Ismael Fernández, who are known for bridging the culture of flamenco between Spain and New York City, in the premiere of ‘El Paseo,’ composed for orchestra by the third-generation master flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes. Violinist Miranda Cuckson, an “electric interpreter of new music,” will premiere ‘Al-Andaluz’ by Dave Soldier. Scott Jackson Wiley will conduct music written for the occasion by composers Dan Cooper, Pedro Cortes, Eleanor Cory, Masatora Goya, Peter Jarvis, Debra Kaye, Daniel Palkowski, Gene Pritsker, and David Saperstein.  Tickets are $10 in advance, purchase by clicking HERE or $15 at the door.

Transformation Festival II on Saturday 10/29 @ 11am-10pm 
A presentation of therapeutic workshops, scientific and psychological talks, music, meditation, visual arts, and personal testimonials concerning traumatic experiences and processes of healing. The Festival’s motto is “Leaving Victimhood Behind.”  The evening includes a performance of GIRL OF DIAMOND MOUNTAIN featuring Lotte Arnsbjerg, vocalist; Mr. Moore, keyboards; Kiori Kawai, dance; and Caterina Bertolotto, projected art.  Tickets are $15 (students with ID $10) at the door.
